Introduction
Welcome! I hope this site is helpful. Please visit often, especially if you have been absent. I will post homework, labs, notes, and any special announcments. This website is here to help you!!
To begin, I would like to introduce myself. This past summer I was married to my wonderful husband and friend, so my name has changed from Miss Chipman to Mrs. Brown. I have been teaching at Pinewood for seven years, this upcoming school year will be my eighth. While teaching at Pinewood, my focus has been science and math. Along with teaching, I have been very active within the school district of Kentwood. I am currently the assistant Girls Varsity Swim coach, Boys and Girls Middle School Swim coach, and new to me this year Pinewood's Track coach. Along with coaching and teaching, I believe in staying active. Throughout the year I train and compete for Michigan Masters Swimming and race triathlons in the summer months. I love setting and reaching goals. I hope that as you grow throughout this upcoming school year that you too will be able to set high goals for yourself and reach them.

Homework Policy
There is no getting around it. You will have homework!
Math
Math classes will have homework everynight. In order to sharpen your skills from the lesson that day, you must practice. Our homework assignments will piggy back off our daily lesson. Therefore, it is crucial that you stay on top of your work.
Science
Science classes will have homework, just not every day. Most of your homework will consist of reading assignments that end with comprehension questions and at times you will have to finish your lab write up at home.
Routine for late (missing) Homework/Assignments
Unfortunately, if you don't do your work your grade WILL reflect this. I can't give grades for assignments that I don't have. Here comes the responsibility of being a student. Doing the work and handing it in on time! Now, late work happens and I'm aware of that. If something occured the night before and you couldn't do your work, come talk to me. I will be more than understandable and will more than likely give you more time. If you are absent please check this website for assignments that you have missed so you can stay up to date. Below you will find my routine for late work. Please notice that as we progress to a new marking period, I begin to tighten up on late work.
Late Work Policy
All late work must be signed by a parent or guardian!!!
1 day late = Full credit
2 days late = 25% off
3 days late = 50% off
ONLY THE 1 M.P. CAN YOU TURN IN WORK UP UNTIL THE TEST. AFTER THIS MARKING PERIOD IF LATE AFTER 3 DAYS YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO!!
